Role Description The Accountant Full Charge is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, NY, responsible for end-to-end accounting and day-to-day financial operations. This role manages the general ledger, processes accounts payable and receivable, reconciles bank and credit card accounts, and prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, filing NY state tax. The position oversees payroll entries, maintains accurate inventory and cost accounting records, and ensures compliance with relevant tax, regulatory, and internal control requirements. The Accountant Full Charge collaborates with management on budgeting, cash flow analysis, and financial reporting, and provides timely, data-driven insights to support business decisions. This role also coordinates with external auditors and advisors as needed and continuously improves accounting processes and systems.

Qualifications

• Strong general accounting skills, including full-charge bookkeeping, general ledger management, and preparation of financial statements.
• Proficiency in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, and payroll-related entries.
• Experience with inventory, cost accounting, and handling financial records for product-based or retail businesses.
• Ability to use accounting and ERP software, along with strong Excel skills for reporting, analysis, and reconciliation.
• Knowledge of basic tax concepts, regulatory requirements, and internal controls that apply to small and mid-sized businesses.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues.
• Ability to work on-site in New York, NY, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and handle confidential information with discretion.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA) are a plus.
• Prior experience in the jewelry, retail, or wholesale industry is beneficial but not required.
