Full-Time | In-Person | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Starting Salary: $55,000–$70,000 per year + Performance Bonus Opportunities

A to Z Fun Care is seeking an experienced, highly qualified, motivated, and results-driven Director to lead our recently expanded early childhood education center. With approximately 18 classrooms and more than 130 children, we serve ages 6 weeks through school age, including before- and after-school programs.

This hands-on leadership role has two major priorities: continuously improve program quality and significantly increase enrollment following our expansion. The ideal candidate brings a passion for early childhood education, fresh ideas, operational excellence, and proven success in staff leadership, licensing compliance, family relationships, and enrollment growth.

Salary is based on education, experience, qualifications, and demonstrated leadership ability.

We offer: Competitive salary; performance-based bonus opportunities; 401(k) and matching; health insurance beginning January 2027; Paid Time Off (PTO); paid federal holidays; tuition assistance; professional development, training, and leadership development; advancement and long-term career growth; state-of-the-art facilities; strong ownership and management support; and opportunities to collaborate with early childhood education professionals and industry leaders.

Candidates should have:

* At least 5 years of successful Director-level experience in a licensed child care center.

* A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree is preferred, particularly in Early Childhood Education, Education, Child Development, Educational Leadership, Business Administration, or a related field.

* Excellent written and verbal English communication, leadership, organization, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.

* Strong knowledge of Maryland OCC regulations, including staffing, staff-to-child ratios, health and safety, documentation, and compliance.

* Experience working with families participating in CCS, WPA, and MCCYN.

* Knowledge of Maryland EXCELS and experience improving quality levels, plus knowledge of early childhood accreditation and the ability to guide a center successfully through the process.

* Strong computer skills, including email, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, reports, online portals, electronic records, and child care management systems. Brightwheel experience is strongly preferred.

The Director’s responsibilities include:

* Daily operations and staff leadership: Oversee center operations; recruit, interview, hire, train, mentor, supervise, evaluate, and retain qualified staff. Build a positive, professional, accountable workplace with strong teamwork and communication; resolve staff concerns and conflicts; maintain appropriate staffing and classroom ratios; and proactively identify needs and implement solutions.

* Compliance and classroom oversight: Regularly visit and observe classrooms, ensure staff follow OCC regulations, center policies, curriculum expectations, and professional standards, and maintain a safe, organized, welcoming, high-quality environment.

* Educational leadership: Strengthen curriculum and educational programming, evaluate classroom quality, maintain consistent standards, and support teachers in creating meaningful, engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences. Introduce creative ideas, lead accreditation efforts, and improve and maintain Maryland EXCELS quality levels.

* Family relationships: Communicate warmly, respectfully, and professionally; build trust; respond promptly to questions; resolve concerns effectively; maintain high family satisfaction and retention; and professionally represent the center to current and prospective families.

* Technology and records: Monitor and manage Brightwheel, including attendance, check-in/check-out records, classroom activities and reports, parent and staff communications, and incident/accident documentation. Ensure accurate, timely records; manage email, reports, spreadsheets, scheduling, and administrative documentation; learn additional online systems; maintain awareness of daily operations; and support safety and security procedures for everyone entering and leaving the center.

* Enrollment growth: Work closely with ownership to develop and implement proven and creative strategies, fill expanded classrooms, conduct professional tours, follow up with prospective families, and convert inquiries and tours into enrollments. Strengthen community relationships, visibility, reputation, family satisfaction, and retention to achieve enrollment goals.

We seek an energetic, professional, accountable leader who takes ownership, works independently, supports teachers, builds a strong team, and brings practical solutions and fresh ideas.

Exceptional leadership, improved quality, family satisfaction, and enrollment results may be recognized through performance bonuses, professional development, advancement, increased responsibilities, and long-term career growth, with strong support from ownership.

If you are ready to lead a large, growing center and help shape its next stage of success, we would love to hear from you.
